Often associated with stretching in Western traditions, yoga is much more than a physical practice. Yoga encompasses the mind, the body and the vital link that connects us to the universe. Through yoga’s primary focus - yoking the breath to movement - we are able to harness the ruminations of the mind and bring this moment into focus, relaxing our stressed out systems and creating an environment for healing. Each private or semi-private session is geared towards your interests, intent and abilities.

Energetic Healing
Return to a place of peace, increase your personal energy levels and heal yourself emotionally and physically through energetic healing.
Reiki. Developed by Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is used to return the body, spirit and soul to greater wholeness. We each hold an ideal form which is the highest and clearest expression of who we are. Reiki, translated from Japanese as “spiritual life force energy”, is used by a practitioner to heal by bringing us closer to our ideal form.
EMF Balancing Technique. Energetic charges in your energy field are rearranged as a result of your thoughts and actions. The EMF Balancing Technique utilizes tai chi like movements to clear and balance your personal energy field bringing peace, clarity, self-empowerment and a profound sense of well-being.

Discover the latest technology utilized by elite athletes including Lance Armstrong. Researchers have demonstrated that whole body vibration increases peripheral blood flow, bone density, human growth hormone and testosterone levels, as well as aids in muscular development.

Athletic Training vs. Personal Training - What is the difference?
The largest difference between Athletic Trainers and Personal Trainers is their level of education. This is not to say that all Personal Trainers do not have solid educational backgrounds. Personal Trainers must demonstrate a level of competency for their certifications ranging from an examination to an internship and degree. Unlike Personal Trainers, all Certified Athletic Trainers must hold a bachelor’s degree, complete an internship and sit for a board of certification exam. Personal Trainers, depending on the type of certification, may not have as extensive of an educational background.
Athletic Trainers work with orthopedic injuries - treating people who are injured and returning them safely to activity in the fastest time possible. Unlike Physical Therapists, we specialize in athletic populations on and off the field which includes emergency response. (Physical Therapists traditionally treat off the field and post-injury.) Athletic Trainers are responsible for the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Personal trainers, on the other hand, specialize in keeping you healthy, assisting with weight loss and help you create balance between muscle structures. They may have a wide variety of backgrounds and certifications. They do not, however, treat or assess injuries.
At The Body Defined, we blend the best of both disciplines to provide you with the best care possible. If you would like to learn more about Athletic Trainers, please visit www.nata.org.
