While working on a video project with my friend, Sarah, I spent a little time "off camera" explaining to her the importance of releasing her jaw during upper body exercises. Sarah has been training in the gym for years and has wonderful body awareness. Even still, she did not realize that she was locking her jaw while performing a standard rowing exercise. By doing this, she was engaging her upper traps which are already strong. A slight adjustment of her jaw actually allows her to focus on her mid/low traps and rhomboids which are essential for proper head and neck allignment.
